Jaundice, Hepatitis & Gastrointestinal Infections
Jaundice, hepatitis, gastroenteritis and food-borne illness — cause found, dehydration treated, admission judged.
Yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain or abnormal liver tests may indicate a liver, gallbladder or gastrointestinal illness requiring medical evaluation.
We assess jaundice, viral and other forms of hepatitis, medication-related liver injury, acute gastroenteritis, food-borne illness and common intestinal infections. Evaluation may include hydration status, liver-function tests, infection testing and imaging when indicated.
Management focuses on identifying the cause, treating dehydration and infection appropriately, reviewing potentially harmful medicines or supplements, and recognising patients who require hospital admission, specialist procedures or closer monitoring.
