Fatty Liver & Metabolic Liver Disease

Fatty liver can occur even in people who do not consume alcohol and may be closely linked with insulin resistance, abdominal obesity, diabetes, high triglycerides and other metabolic conditions. We evaluate abnormal liver tests and fatty liver detected on ultrasound or FibroScan/FibroTouch, assess the risk of inflammation and fibrosis, and look for associated metabolic or medical causes. Care may include weight and nutrition management, control of diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure, medication review, and monitoring for progression. The objective is to identify people at risk early and protect both liver and cardiovascular health before significant liver damage develops.
