ERCP

Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography, or ERCP, is an advanced endoscopic procedure used primarily to treat problems affecting the bile duct and pancreatic duct. It may be performed to remove bile-duct stones, relieve obstruction, treat narrowing, place a stent or manage bile leakage. ERCP combines endoscopy with X-ray imaging and is generally recommended when a therapeutic intervention is anticipated. The need for the procedure and its possible risks are assessed individually before treatment.
